Lightings Done Up

Woohoo! My lights are up and it's time for a new post update!
Was actually complaining last week about the dinner table lights hanging from different lengths of wire cables and was really an eyesore.

Below pic will show you 2 out of 3 of the dinner table hanging lamps, not very nice because the wrappings are not removed yet. And here comes the very 1st problem, 1 of the 3 lamps has a missing inner glass core (works like a 1-way glass where it looks solid when the bulbs are turn off, and illuminates nicely when they are on). My interior designer told me that the electrician had informed earlier that THAT particular glass core was cracked when delivered and had to be changed.

Here is one with the dinner table lamps and downlights on, of course you can see the cove lights now (since it is switched on). Supposed to make the overall ambience more cosy.

And here is one without flash on. Looks definitely more appealing now. See how that very 1 lamp is brighter than the other 2? Yupz, THAT's the 1 with the cracked glass core.

x_x"

Lets move to the kitchen, the bottom cabinets and kitchen top are not up yet, since carpentery will begin only end of the month. Mongmong and I chose the lights cause it looks more modern rather that those traditional round plastic covered lights.

Lets just take a look at the below picture, doesn't something just stand (or rather stick) out funny? Yupz, the DAMN LONG casing of the bathroom light. Although the shape and style are the same as the kitchen lights, this 1 is extremely special, like as if it's "erected" or something.

Ya... probably because people bathe in this particular location.

-_-"

Next, we move on, out to the living room.
Sorry for the dark picture, the sunlight outside was a bit glaring and I had to take the pic without flash to highlight the next few pics.

Living Room lightings from a lower angle.

And then, PRESTO! There was light!

1 more without the flash, doesn't it look cosy?
And to think this is in the day, shall make a trip back here when darkness falls.

Low angled shot at the Living Room downlights with the flash.

The Study Room with light affixed.
Somehow, Mongmong and I have always felt this room is the nicest in terms of the color tone and the well-laid trucking of the air-con.

I think my earlier post did not bring out the Indigo Mist color chosen for this bedroom. I have deliberately took the pic without the flash to bring out a clearer picture of the Indigo Mist color.

Last but not least, Mongmong and my love nest, also taken without the flash to show the 2 colors we have chosen, Love and Sweetness, clearly.

Guess it's about time to make a trip over to our home again for a view of the lightings at night.
Ciaoz!

Painting Done

Yo Peeps!

Decided to pop back Mongmong and my place today to see the renovation progress. Found the front door grills already painted in Mahogany color and went in to see if the rest of the house is also painted.

Here you see the front entrance before any painting done.

This is it with the color Bisque.
Probably not able to see much of a difference because I took the shot with flash on.

Oh just ignore the guy sitting near the window, he is just waiting for instructions from his employer where to head off next after painting our front door grills.

Another view of the whole Living Room & partial Doorway from the Study Room.

We stepped into the kitchen and found the kitchen base done up. In this picture you see Mongmong squatting down to measure the space allocated for our washing machine. Don't mind her un-glam posture.

Finished kitchen base.

Painted Study Room in Frosty Blue.

Painted Bedroom in Indigo Mist.

Finally the Master Bedroom.
We chose the color Love for the wall behind our bed and the rest of the walls to be covered in Sweetness.

So lovey dovey right?
>_<

We still found some uneven paint surfaces, probably because the paint coat was too thin. Could actually see a slight tint of the base white before the actual colors were painted on. Will be pointing that out to the interior designer.

That's about it for this post regarding Painting.
Next post would be about the Lightings.

Air Con Installation 2

Alright, got a call from the technician at approximately 1455 hours informing me that the installation will be finished in another half an hour.

We went over (from MongMong's parents' place) to our new house at 1525 hours, wondering if everything will be nicely done up. I was actually quite worried about how well they will patch up the holes with clay plaster. You know sometimes, you get a sloppy workmanship and the clay plaster starts cracking and then you have to do the touch up yourself.

By the time we reached downstairs, we could see 1 of the technicians on the air-con ledge doing the patching. We are very satisfied with his service and attitude. He actually recommended the re-positioning of the air-con after we informed him how we wanted it in the first place.

I welcome such feedback from him as he is more experienced than us when it comes to this. I really hate it when I am paying good money to interior design companies and the sales person just "Orh Orh Orh" to whatever we wanted. Sometimes, when MongMong and I spend too much time "arguing" about the color combination, I actually hope for some recommendations from the designer.

Okie, back to my air-con installation.

Once we entered the house and walked towards the bedrooms, I could feel the cool breeze from the air-con blowing out into the living room.

"WOW!" was my immediate thought. That's strong!

Probably because Daiya is from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (finally found the company name). Perhaps I am wrong, but just the 2 words "Heavy Industries" makes me feel as if that Daiyas air-con units are meant to perform extremely well to cool down all areas.

Below are some pics after the trunking had been laid in Bedroom 2.

More shots of the air-con units in the various bedrooms.

Bedroom 2

Master Bedroom

Last but not least, my favorite, the Study Room (also will be used as a bedroom in future). The trunking is the shortest and very nicely hidden compared to the other rooms. Just love the simple neat look.

Well, that wraps up the air-con installation. Managed to strike out 1 more item on our To-Do-List.

Ciaoz!

Air Con Installation 1

Finally an update to my earlier post last year on MongMong and my house.

We had arranged for the air-con technicians from Gain City to come and do the installation of our air-con. We bought a Mitsubishi Daiya Inverter (Sys3) at IMM early February and can only slot in a time for the air-con installation after the electrical points have been properly allocated.

The Daiya is not the same as the Mitsubishi Starmex (which Jack Neo is currently promoting) just because the Daiya belongs to Mitsubishi Heavy (the sales person told me it is actually a subsidiary company of Mitsubishi).

Anyway, a picture of how the Daiya unit looks like.
Very simple design with no fanciful edges or colors.

Okie, let's begin from the entrance.
How it looked like last year.

And how it looks like now.
Still the same, maybe more cluttered and with the electrical wires dangling down. There will be a false ceiling at where the wires are.

Next will be the view from entrance towards the living room window.
How it looked like last year.

And how it looks like now.
Same but with all the equipment of the technicians and the whole flooring covered up with cardboard to prevent much damage when the big renovation starts... oh ya, MORE DANGLING WIRES!!!

(>_<)

View from the window of living room back then.

And how it looks like now.
Yup! Same except that the red pail disappeared! Nah, stored properly in the bomb shelter cum store room you see in the pic.

Just a random snapshot of the metal bracket for the air-con unit. Those 2 in the background are MongMong and her sister, who finally has her chance to step into our house for the 1st time.

More cluttering of insulation pipes for the air-con and a ladder in the foreground just because I am lazy to remove it before shooting.

Same room from a different position to show the trunking of the air-con unit.

Gain City air-con technician busy at work in our master bedroom.
When I took the shot with flash on, he was shocked and looked back, saying he thought it was lightning.

Time is now 1405 hours and into its 4th hour of air-con installation. Shall now just wait for the technician's call for any updates.

Believe it should take about another 2 hours since they have to properly plaster up those holes they drilled through the bedrooms to connect the trunking.

To be continued...

Late Entry - Genting Part 3 Final

Woah... I can't imagine this Genting Trip actually took 3 posts to finish. Perhaps it just me... so much to tell and believing it will get too draggy if I were to combine all into 1 single post.

Anyway, we went to bed and only woke up around 1100 hours. By then, my parents had already woken up and gone for breakfast, with my dad hitting the casino to try out his luck.

Aron and I felt it was too late for a breakfast and decided to have some entertainment at the outdoor theme park. I forgot if it's called Space Shot or Vertical Shot, but it's those rides which you get strapped in and lifted high up in the air and then you get dropped all the way down. Woooo... adrenaline pumping, especially liked the feeling when it begins its initial drop, with your ass totally lifted off the seats. Just my kind of ride.

We went for other rides and by 1500 hours, we were famished. Time for a late lunch! Walked all over the place and finally settled on Bah Kut Teh. Super expensive (I feel) at RM 36 for 2-pax portion, but definitely worth it. I like its strong herbal taste compared to the normal peppery Bah Kut Tehs you find in Singapore.

After lunch, we decided to take a break and chill out at Coffee Bean with our DS Lites.

If you are wondering what happened to the repair of my dad's car, the stupid repair guy actually said he would drive up to First World Hotel lobby when it's done up. In the end, the car was only ready at 2330 hours! Totally loss for words...

Okie... back to chill out at Coffee Bean playing our DS Lites. If my memory didn't fail me, we should be playing some Tetris game and another one which is similar to Monopoly, but Super Mario Bros style. Once we had almost drained our DS'es batteries with all those wireless connectivity, we went back to the hotel room to charge them up.

Finally it's night, we tried out the indoor bumper car ride and roller coaster, feeling like a fool to have waited so long and only to have the rides finished in seconds (roller coaster) or minutes (Bumper Car). Sigh, anyway, we had too much time to waste before the live band starts at 2100 hours. We had a few bottles of beer and spent more than an hour there, even had the chance to hear one of the patrons singing 小薇 horribly... totally no sense of rhythm.

It was about midnight and we went into the First World Casino to see if my dad was playing Pontoon (also known as BlackJack) after getting back the car earlier, as I had mentioned above. Surprisingly, they seem to have removed all the Pontoon tables and shifted them all to Genting Hotel Casino. I changed some money and tried my luck at other games like 3 Pictures.

Tough luck! Within half an hour, I was losing RM 50. It may be little to you, but I was ACTUALLY trying to save money! >_<>
(It was almost 0200 hours) and the worse part is he didn't join in the gambling at all, just standing behind us while we were playing.

Our luck changed for the better in Genting Hotel Casino and I finally broke even by using the "Hit and Run" playing style. I used to be impatient and will simply bet in every round possible. I realised that I have to "pull back" sometimes and maintain a comfortable "reserve". Too rush and I may end up losing all I had won earlier.

By 0530 hours, I had won enough to cover all my expenses in this trip. Seeing that my dad's cards were not too smooth, I actually advised him to take a break and rest for the night (or should I say MORNING). Surprisingly, he listened and agreed to me! WOW! He would be very stubborn in the past and will ask me to go take a rest first if I wanted to, but this time was totally different. Maybe it was also because of the "damage" from the car repair earlier and he didn't want to have any chance to lose. We cashed in our chips and went back to hotel room, tired but definitely satisfied with our results at Genting World Casino.

The next morning, we checked out and headed back to Singapore. Cut the post short, we reach Singapore at approximately 1800 hours. Home Sweet Home!!

Oh yeah... and back to the arms of my lovely MongMong...
